Frequently Asked Questions from our guests at Sol y Luna Puerto Vallarta
How do I get from the Puerto Vallarta airport to Sol y Luna suites
When you leave the baggage claim zone at the airport and access the public area, just find any gate straight ahead. Airport taxis are there waiting. If you are a bit more adventurous and want to save some money on the fare, then turn left as you exit the airport gates and walk all the way to the end, turn left again and you will see an overpass, walk through it and right as you come out at the other end of it, after crossing atop the busy highway, there is a taxi stand, all cabs are yellow, you can ask them to bring you the Zona Hotelera Norte, in front of the Icon Hotel.
Once you are right at the Icon, there is a small convenience store called Oxxo in this narrow street, and you can disembark right there as the Suites Flamingo complex is right across this convenience store. The Hilton Hotel is another landmark nearby, right next to the Icon Hotel and only a 3 minutes walk to Flamingo.

Our address is Suites Flamingo, Avenida Las Garzas 235. Check out the Google Map on our contact-us page.

A ride to Sol y Luna from the airport in one of these taxis across the overpass will normally cost 150-200 Mexican pesos. The airport ones will charge approximately double that.

Can I cook in Sol y Luna suites?
Both Sol and Luna suites (7A and 7B respectively) have full size kitchens and modern appliances, microwave ovens and all utensils you'll need, including a dishwasher and BBQ items on Sol (unit 7A). Stoves operate on city gas and so does the BBQ on Sol's balcony.

Is there wifi at Sol y Luna suites?
Yes! the wifi network and password can be found on the instructions binder located on the coffee table on both units. For Luna (unit 7B) there is a "repeater" antenna on the second floor where your bedroom is located.

Is there a swimming pool?
Yes! there is a nice and very well-maintained pool that is for the exclusive use of the Flamingo Suite's vacationers only. It operates from about 7am till about 10pm when it closes for maintenance. Please observe the rules posted by the pool in both English and Spanish when using it as there is no lifeguard on duty.

How about drinking water?
Sol (unit 7A) comes equipped with a water purifying system by laser, providing drinking water right next to the kitchen's sink. Luna (unit 7B) does not have such system but there is a cradle for large (5 gallons) water bottles, which are sold at the administration office located by the pool, open during office hours (about 9am to 4pm) or at the nearby supermarkets where you can also buy water bottles of all kids and sizes.

DO NOT DRINK TAP WATER IN MEXICO! Unlike a number of more developed countries where tap water is relatively safe, in Mexico it is not treated for drinking. Always buy bottled water or use the filtered one next to the sink in Sol (unit 7A).

Where is the beach?
It is literally a 3 to 4 minutes walk from Suites Flamingo, or less than 5 minutes from your Sol y Luna's door! Please watch the video showing you the way to the beach in our How-to-get-to page here.

Where can I buy groceries?
As you exit Suites Flamingo, you turn right and walk 20-30 meters to an open truck loading area; that is the rear of the Chedraui Supermarket. To the right of it is a narrow walkway making a shortcut to the entrance of the supermarket. It is a very clean, modern and decently price store for your groceries. When you are ready to pay, you may notice enderly helpers bagging your goods. They are usually volunteering, but you are welcome to give them any tip you may want to help them out with.

Are there restaurants nearby?
Plenty! the closest one is an open concept Mexican grill with live music most evenings of the week and is only a 5 minutes walk. Called Monkey Business, it is lively as the name suggest and serves large portions of great food. Right across from it on the other side of the main avenue are Italian, steak houses and several other types of restaurants. Walking towards the right side of Money Business for some 15 minutes you'll encounter a modern shopping mall with yet more choices. Check out our video on how to get to the restaurants area here.

Is there a convenience store nearby?
Yes! and it couldn't be any closer. Right across the gate from Flamingo is the Oxxo store, with the very essentials. Takes 3 seconds to cross the narrow street and you are there! And it operates 24h.

Can I use currencies like USDs or CADs in Puerto Vallarta?
Everything trades in Mexican pesos here and you are better off to exchange in your country before coming. The only exception might be hotels but you are staying Sol y Luna, far better than any hotel!

How can I get to the airport from Sol y Luna?
The best way is to grab a taxi again, but this time, if you are flying late night or early morning you may need to arrange your ride in advance as you won't find taxis after hours driving around. The good news is that as you come out of Flamingo Suites and turn left towards the Icon and Hilton hotels, there is a taxi line right across from them, and yet another taxi stand right in front of Monkey Business just 2 minutes away from the Hilton. Always try and catch clearly marked taxis. Most drivers speak enough English to understand you need a ride to the airport. After hour taxi rides can charge 400-500 pesos, more than double the day time fares.
